If glass gets softer as it gets hotter, will it eventually drip? Yes, it does, and if I rotate the glass
just as it is about to drip, I can catch the drip. Repeating this five to seven times creates some
wonderful pattern and color combinations. Also, at that high of a temperature all sorts of
chemical reactions and interactions occur among the different metal oxides used to color the glass.
I have gotten new colors to appear that I did not put on the bead, and I have had unusual effects
appear such as mottling effects, ghostly lace patterns, stripes and striations. I can take the same
colors and go through the same motions in catching the drips and still end up with completely
different looking beads. I love the beads where I make some of the decisions and the glass makes
some others; the result is the co-operation between us.
