The Florals use general flower shapes to convey the idea of a vase of flowers. With the Irises, I wanted
more of the feel of a garden where the background is not important because you are concentrating on the
flowers directly in front of you and like most garden beds, it is a single type of flower. And yes,
my irises were in bloom when I developed this idea. Because they are outside in a garden, I made the stems
and foliage more realistic with streaks of brown and a variety of greens. I chose background colors
that you might see: a light, streaky blue of a clear day; a stormy blue; a dawn pink; a dusk purple;
and a pale green of morning grass.
